Dr Lahann Wijenayake is a well-regarded Orthopaedic Surgeon experienced in the treatment and management of conditions related to the upper and lower limbs, and spine. He has performed a wide range of general surgical and trauma orthopaedic procedures, including joint replacement, shoulder and knee problems and sports injuries.
Dr Lahann Wijenayake is Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Queensland. He is a full-time public orthopaedic surgeon practicing at several major Queensland Hospitals, including Queensland Children’s Hospital, Prince Charles Hospital, Ipswich Hospital and Redlands Hospital.
He is skilled in provision of independent medical examinations, workers’ compensation claims, and road traffic authority assessments.
Dr Wijenayake attended medical school in QLD and completed his orthopaedic training in several leading Brisbane Hospitals. He spent a further 2 years in subspecialty training in Brisbane and Sydney, as well as an associated fellowship with the college of medical administrators. He is involved in the education of the next generation of surgeons with academic titles at University of QLD, Griffith University and Bond University as well as orthopaedic registrar training. His research has resulted in multiple publications as well as national and international conference presentations. He is an active member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Australian Paediatric Orthopaedic Association, the Royal Australian College of Surgeons and the Royal Australian College of medical administrators.
