Dr Benjamin Trewin

Neurologist | BAppSc, MBBS, FRACP, PhD

Dr Benjamin Trewin is a Consultant Neurologist well experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of complex neurological disorders, with a clinical focus on neuroimmunology, and subspeciality in autoimmune neurology. He has particular expertise in managing patients with migraine and headache, and also specialises in assessment and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis and MOG Antibody Disease.

Currently in private practice, Dr Trewin is further skilled in provision of impairment assessment across a broad range of neurological conditions. He is SIRA accredited (nervous system and spine) as a Permanent Impairment Assessor for WorkCover NSW, and an Authorised Health Practitioner (CTP) for NSW Motor Accident. Dr Trewin also serves as Medical Assessor for the Personal Injury Commission NSW.

Additionally, with a commitment to medical education, Dr Trewin has co-created a course for Basic Physician Trainees sitting the RACP Written Exam, as well as a YouTube series of Neurological Examination teaching videos for RACP Clinical Exam. For several years, he lectured at Western Sydney University, and has been involved in bedside teaching of physician trainees and medical students.

Upon graduating from the University of Sydney, Dr Trewin commenced specialty training at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Multiple Sclerosis & Neuroimmunology Fellowship) and Concord Repatriation General Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has also completed a PhD in Neuroimmunology, and has been published in high-impact journals on research relating to MOGAD, Neuromyelitis Optica, and Autoimmune Encephalitis. He has presented at national and international conferences and meetings.
