Dr Jian Cheng is a well experienced Adult Nephrologist and General Medicine Physician. He has expertise in the management and treatment of chronic/polycystic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and kidney stones. He is also skilled in performing dialysis and transplantation. In addition to private practice, Dr Cheng serves as Consultant Nephrologist/General Physician at Northern Beaches Hospital. Additionally, Dr Cheng is a multi-award winning medical educator with the University of Sydney, where he holds appointment as Senior Lecturer and Medicine Block Coordinator for the School of Rural Health. He has extensive experience working rurally with a strong background in general medicine/nephrology.

Upon graduating from Monash University, Dr Cheng commenced kidney specialty training, working at several leading hospitals, including royal North Shore, Gold Coast, and Westmead. He holds fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and Higher Education Academy. He has also completed a Masters of Public Health, Graduate Certificate in Higher Education and a clinical teaching fellowship.

With a wide skillset covering clinical medicine that includes Nephrology and General Medicine, Dr Cheng provides comprehensive medicolegal assessments and reports. He is accredited as a Permanent Impairment Assessor with WorkCover NSW SIRA, Authorised Health Practitioner NSW Motor Accidents, Accredited Medical Practitioner, WorkCover Tasmania, as well as Trained Assessor with GEPI. Dr Cheng also has experience as a Medical Expert Witness.
